We'll also be running a live social media competition on the day, with three £100 prizes for the best coverage of the fair, the choir, and the evening celebrations. And for anyone wanting to explore more of the city, there's an optional stadium and Cardiff Castle tour during the afternoon break.

Entry to the ballot is free for ASAN-UK members, with limited places, you'll only pay £20 if you're selected, heavily subsidised by ASAN-UK. Applications close on Friday October 31st 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

Entry to the ballot is completely free. If you're selected, tickets are just £20, heavily subsidised by ASAN-UK, and that covers your food, drinks, and the whole evening: the postgraduate fair, the Welsh Male Voice Choir, and the Thanksgiving celebration. Places are limited, so apply early.

You won't need to pay anything to enter the ballot. If you're selected, you'll be notified and asked to pay your £20 ticket within 7 days to confirm your place. If payment isn't received by the deadline, your spot will be offered to the next person on the waitlist.

Oh, we've got you covered. Think welcome drinks the moment you arrive, a Welsh/American Thanksgiving spread that brings two food cultures together for one incredible night, and an evening that just keeps the good times rolling. This isn't a "grab a sandwich and go" kind of event, it's a proper celebration, and the food and drinks are very much part of the show.

ASAN-UK is working with regional universities and partners to provide transport support wherever we can, especially for members travelling from further afield. Exactly what's available will vary by region, and we'll share more details with everyone who's successful in the ballot closer to the date. If you've got questions about travel from your area in the meantime, just reach out to us at info@ukcollegeadmissions.com.

Yes, the event is exclusively for ASAN-UK members. The good news is membership is completely free and takes less than a minute to join, so if you're not signed up yet, now's the perfect time before you enter the ballot.

N.B. If you complete the ballot without also becoming an ASAN-UK member, your entry won't be considered.

Yes, absolutely. ASAN-UK membership and this event are open to all American students in the UK, whether you're here for a full degree, a semester or year abroad, or any other short-term programme. If you're studying in the UK, you're one of us. American alumni of UK institutions are also welcome to apply.

Places are allocated through a ballot, not first-come-first-served. Complete your ASAN-UK membership and submit your ballot entry before the closing date of October 31st 2026, and successful applicants will be notified shortly after applications close.

We're hosting this year's celebration at the iconic Principality Stadium in the heart of Cardiff, Wales' 73,931-seat national stadium (and the venue that hosted Taylor Swift's only-ever Wales show). Cardiff Central train station is just a 6-minute walk away, and London to Cardiff is under 2 hours by direct train, with services running roughly every 30 minutes. Whether you're coming by coach, train, or car, Cardiff is one of the easiest capital cities in the UK to reach.

This event is exclusively for ASAN-UK members, so unfortunately we're not able to offer guest tickets this year. If your friend or partner is studying in the UK and eligible to join ASAN-UK themselves, they're welcome to sign up and enter the ballot too.

Smart casual is perfect, think "dressed for a celebration," not black tie. Layer up if you can; the stadium's retractable roof means the weather stays comfortable, but it is still late November in Wales.

Bring a valid photo ID and your ballot confirmation, you'll need both to check in on the day. Beyond that, just bring yourself, an appetite, and your best dance moves (or at least your best cheering-on-the-choir moves).

Yes, both official and yours. We'll have photographers and videographers capturing the day, and we'd love for you to as well, bring your phone and capture your own memories of the choir, the fair, and the celebrations.

Tag us @asan_uk in your posts and Stories throughout the day for a chance to be featured on our page, and keep an eye out for our on-the-day competition: three £100 prizes for the best coverage of the event.

By attending, you agree that ASAN-UK and its partners may use photos and video from the event for future promotional and marketing purposes.
