Professor Mark Horton, Cambridge-educated archaeologist and Fulbright Program leader, explores the Roanoke Colony and the beginning of sustained transatlantic connections between Britain and North America. Prof Horton is renowned for his work featured in multiple US television documentaries, particularly about the mysterious Roanoke Colony. Discover how the story of early contact across the Atlantic connects to your own journey as an American student in the UK today.

Learn how being American became an asset in his global career and gain practical advice on building your own transatlantic professional journey. Adam's work spans operations, corporate training, and educational innovation across global brands including OTG Management, Levy Restaurants, and Lobster Ink, including leading the industry's largest learning rollout during the Marriott-Starwood integration impacting 670,000 learners.

Continue the celebration at Belushi's, an authentic American-style sports bar, for the big game! We've reserved space for ASAN-UK attendees with a pre-paid bar tab.

Registration & Ballot
All ASAN-UK members are eligible to enter the ballot for conference spaces. Registration is free but spaces are limited to ensure an intimate, high-quality experience.

Dietary Requirements

Thanks to our partners and sponsors, all main conference activities — keynote talks, postgraduate fair, networking sessions, and the evening social are completely free for attendees. (Only optional late-night activities, such as the Superbowl afterparty, may have a cost although there is a pre paid £1k bar tab)
Yes - The conference is exclusively for ASAN-UK members.
Membership is free and only members can apply for a place.
Absolutely. If you are an American student currently studying in the UK — whether full-time or on a semester/year abroad, you’re eligible.
Yes! Alumni are encouraged to attend and get involved with all the opportunities to connect with current students.

Due to venue capacity, not everyone who registers may receive a place.
We will release spaces in waves, based on:

  • Regional representation
  • Diversity of UK institutions
  • Engagement with ASAN-UK activities

This helps ensure a fair and representative national mix. Please note that as ASAN continues to grow we will look to secure bigger venues that can host larger numbers in future.

Alcohol:
A selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available for free during the evening social until the allocated budget limit is reached.
